About Matthew Unger
Matthew Unger is a boot fit expert, CSIA Level 3 Ski Instructor and Level 4 Academy Candidate. He has been a professional boot fitter since 2018. Matthew continues to improve his boot fitting skills each year & keeps up-to-date on the latest & greatest ski gear.

While Matthew Unger is first and foremost a ski instructor he is also an extremely detail-oriented and highly technical boot fitter who is always spreading outdoor stoke wherever he goes!
He is incredibly passionate about skiing, high performance gear and helping others enjoy their experiences on snow and in the mountains!
Matthew grew up skiing in Alberta, where he fell in love with big mountain skiing and touring the backcountry!
Many years later, Matthew moved to Vancouver where he began tinkering with his own ski boots and exploring how altering the setup of a boot would affect the overall performance on snow. While living in Vancouver Matthew taught skiing at Cypress Mountain in North Vancouver.
In 2020, Matthew successfully passed his CSIA Level 3.
In 2021, successfully passed his CSIA Course Conductor Training.
In 2022 Matthew was accepted into the CSIA Level 4 Academy!
He is working towards completing the CSIA Level 4 Training and teaches skiing professionally at Craigleith Ski Club while working full time as a Professional Boot Fitter.
Off snow, Matthew continues to further his education as a boot fitter and self-proclaimed gear nerd. He can often be found in the Boot Lab continuing to tinker and perfect the performance of his own boots.
Matthew’s educational background in Dance, Physiology, and Biomechanics continue to provide him with a deep understanding of the foot, the importance of balance & alignment, and a keen attention to detail. He approaches boot fitting from a physiological perspective in order to provide his clients with the most accurate fit and utmost comfort.
Matthew continues to learn more everyday, both about boot fitting as well as performance ski equipment. Whether you're a seasoned pro or hitting the mountain for the first time, Matthew's passion, knowledge and technical skills help meet you where you are, ensuring you find the RIGHT gear above and beyond just making a sale.
